EN+ Group, a major aluminium and hydropower company, has made a commitment to become net zero by 2050 and to reduce its carbon emissions by 35% by 2030.
According to the company, these targets are the most ambitious yet in the aluminium industry. They cover absolute emissions across all operations, including aluminium, heat, and electricity production. The 2050 net zero target encompasses Scopes 1 and 2, based on the business’s 2018 emissions.
A climate change task force will be put in place by EN+ Group that will be responsible for planning and implementing the company’s climate change strategy.
The group aims to put out a report in September 2021, highlighting its pathway to reducing GHG emissions and becoming net zero. Approval from the Science Based Targets initiative is expected to happen in August 2021.
